SERDANG, Oct 18 (Bernama)– Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM)’s agrobio products could be potentially promoted to attract foreign tourists, according to Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen.
She noted that the university had more than 100,000 tropical zoology, herbarium, arthropod, xylarium, seed, fish, agriculture artifacts, priceless flora, microbes, animal husbandry and fresh water fish collections being conserved on a site covering more than 1,200ha.
She said the vastness of the area made it a viable tourism product to develop.
“The ministry will form a committee to work with UPM to develop the product which could derive a high income for the university and the country,” she said, while launching the ‘Nature’s Yield and Wonders of Art (Nyawa) 2012′ exhibition at UPM here Thursday.
