KUALA LUMPUR, July 19 (Bernama) — Malaysia’s administration capital Putrajaya will be home to the 2014 Red Bull Air Race World Championship, which is expected to draw over 80,000 local and international spectators.
Red Bull Air Race managing director Erich Wolf said the international series had grown to become a major tourism draw for cities where it was held, mainly held over water near cities, airfields or natural wonders.
The series had, in the past, visited Abu Dhabi, Perth, New York and Rio de Janeiro where it attracted more than 100,000 spectators at the locations, he said at the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Red Bull Air Race and Aerolomba Sdn Bhd.
Wolf signed the MoU on behalf of Red Bull Air Race while Aerolomba, a company that facilitates the coordination of logistics, accommodation and introduction to local businesses and organisations, was represented by its director, Mohd Halizi Mohamad.
