KUALA LUMPUR: The Kuala Lumpur Chinese Assembly Hall (KLCAH) will be organising the Malaysia Art and Culture Lantern Making Workshop 2012 beginning June 4.
The workshop will be held in conjunction with the 1Malaysia Tanglung Tourism Festival in September.
The event is jointly-organised by the Ministry of Tourism, Kuala Lumpur City Council, Central Market, SKJ (C) Sam Yoke and the Taiwan Visitor Association.
KLCAH president Datuk Liew Kon Seng said it has been working with the Taiwan Visitor Association (Kuala Lumpur office) to bring in the instructors from Taiwan to teach participants how to make the lanterns.
“This year, we are bringing five of Taiwan’s professional masters to teach participants,” said Liew.
He also said there will be two sessions at the five-day event.
“The participants of the workshop will automatically be part of the 1Malaysia Tanglung Tourism Festival competition which will be held from Sept 22,” he said.
The competition is open to the public.
Winners under the individual category will receive RM1,000 while those under the group category will get RM3,000.
The workshop entry fee is RM100 for individuals and RM200 for groups. Each group should have a minimum of two persons and not more than three.
