Malaysia’s Tourism Minister Ng Yen Yen apologised on Wednesday for the inconvenience caused to travellers when it introduced its new fingerprint scanning system in June.
She said that the hiccups in June have had a negative impact, and that Malaysia saw a substantial decline in the number of tourists from Singapore.
She noted that ease of clearance plays a big part in the whole tourist experience. ‘Fast and easy clearance will encourage Singaporeans to come often,’ said Datuk Seri Ng, who was here to launch the latest Tourism Malaysia advertising blitz.Add New
To this end, she is hoping that more Singaporeans will apply and make use of the Malaysia Automated Clearance System (Macs). Those who get the Macs pass have a sticker in their passports which can be scanned on entry and departure.
