JASIN: Hundreds of people took part in a Tarian Cuti-cuti 1Malaysia event led by Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen at SJK (C) Jasin Lalang here.
Dr Ng said it was obvious from the participation of various races, that unity was prevalent in the country.
She said 20,000 people nationwide learnt the dance comprising traditional dances of various ethnic groups and hoped all Malaysians would learn it one day.
“Some countries are at war, we are here dancing and celebrating because we live in a stable nation,” she said during her speech recently.
“We want voters to feel the happy atmosphere in this country through the dance rather than having a political ceramah,’’ said Dr Ng, who is also MCA vice-president.
She hoped all the voters would make the right choice when voting at the Merlimau by-election tomorrow.
“Barisan Nasional has proven its track record in bringing development to urban and rural areas,” she said, expressing optimism about the outcome.
