KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 10 (Bernama) — The Malaysian International Shoe Festival (MISF) held at the Putra World Trade Centre here from April 2 to 5 recorded RM5 million in profit from sale of shoes, said Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen.
She said the festival participated by 100 local shoe producers drew 45,000 visitors from locally and abroad including from China, Indonesia, India, South Africa, France, Iran, Germany, Australia, United Kingdom, South Korea, Taiwan, Mauritius, the Philippines, Vietnam and Middle Eastern countries.
“The Tourism Ministry provided RM3 million to cover the cost of this worthwhile venture. The RM5 million profit more than justified the money spent,” she said in a statement here Wednesday.
She said that MISF was a niche product of the ministry along with supporting industries in fashion and fabrics which were aimed at making Malaysia a fashion and shoe hub in the world.
She added that having shoe icon Prof Datuk Jimmy Choo in the festival was a further plus point for it.
