Website Facilitates Licence Renewal For Tourism Industry Players

Tourism Ministry Secretary-General Datuk Dr Ong Hong Peng said previously, all dealings pertaining to renewal of licences had to be made at the state tourism office where the tourism players were operating.
“The introduction of the system is aimed at improving the quality and effeciency in service delivery to the customers apart from streamlining the process to make it faster and more efficient.
“It is open to industry players such as tourism agencies, tourist guides, operators of tourism vehicles, Tourism Training Institute and tourism residential premises,” he said after launching the system on behalf of the minister, Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen here Thursday.

她希望大家能够配合，在推介大自然旅游景点时，以配套方式来推销本地特產，把游客的钱留在劳勿。

黄燕燕今日在亚发酒家移交拨款给劳勿两广义山和福建义山管理委员会，以及都赖路观音堂管理委员会成员时这样指出。两个义山组织各获得1万令吉，都赖路观音堂5千令吉。
她也说，劳勿每年出口到新加坡的榴槤价值高达2千万令吉，证明本地方的农业发展发达。

获旅游部2年內拨款逾亿‧甲旅游业有望再创高峰

（马六甲25日讯）在第十大马计划下，旅游部將在2年內拨款1亿5千720万令吉给马六甲发展旅游业。
旅游部长拿督斯里黄燕燕表示，在3亿4千万令吉的旅游拨款下，单单拨给马六甲的上述数目，就佔了总数的46%。
她强调，马六甲是旅游州，而且配合甲州作为世界文化遗產区，这项拨款显得更特別及有意义。
她是昨晚在马六甲主讲一项旅游专题演讲后，向记者发表谈话。上述活动是由行政与廉正学院主办，甲州首席部长拿督斯里莫哈末阿里也是座上嘉宾。
黄燕燕说，在未来2年內的第十大马计划里，甲州將进行5项提昇旅游景点的计划，包括爱极乐植物公园（3千万令吉）、野新津津公园提昇基本设施（2千500万令吉）、怡力缆车基本设施建设（4千900万令吉）、沿河第二期电动火车计划（1千32万令吉）、鲁容汉都亚村（4千万令吉）。
她表示，旅游部希望这些计划完成后，能够吸引更多游客到访马六甲。
甲旅游发展表现最理想
她指出，与其他州属相比，甲州在推行第九大马计划下的旅游发展计划方面，表现最理想。截至今年10月30日，92.29%的拨款已经被使用。
她说，今年1月至10月，甲州共有93人经营民宿，提供152间房，並迎来了9千871名游客，总收入达71万8千836令吉。
她表示，这些民宿分布在州內的3个区，分別是亚罗牙也的斯里丹绒与阿依礼茂、中央县的阿来、野新的布来与巴力彭湖鲁。
另一方面，甲州首长拿督斯里莫哈末阿里感谢旅游部，在第十大马计划下拨款1亿5千720万令吉给马六甲发展旅游业。
他说，这笔拨款將有助於马六甲的旅游业再创高峰。
首长：吸引更多游客
明年將办国际峇峇娘惹盛会
首席部长拿督斯里莫哈末阿里计划明年在甲州举办第一届国际峇峇娘惹盛会，以吸引更多国外游客到访马六甲。
他说，第一届国际峇峇娘惹盛会的地点会在怡力的”Casa del Rio”酒店，该酒店预计明年4月竣工，而第一届国际峇峇娘惹盛会將会是该酒店开张营业的第一场活动。
他是昨晚出席旅游部长拿督斯里黄燕燕主讲的旅游专题演讲后，联合黄燕燕召开的新闻发佈会上，这么表示。
他指出，届时將邀请来自马六甲、檳城、新加坡、印尼、泰国的峇峇娘惹出席，共同发扬峇峇娘惹的传兆、文化与艺术。
他说，甲州政府將联合旅游部一同举办该盛会。旅游部长拿督斯里黄燕燕也表示，旅游部將全力支持马六甲举办第一届国际峇峇娘惹盛会。

12月4日黄燕燕主持开幕‧街头美食节新山打头阵
November 25, 2010 on 10:01 pm | In News Section | No Comments（柔佛‧新山24日讯）“一个大马．食全食美──2010年街头美食节全国开幕式”將於12月4日晚上8时，在新山大丰花园苏特拉路举行，预计將有上万民眾参与其盛。
全国美食节將由新山打头阵，从12月3日至5日在上述地点举行，预计参与的美食摊档將有上百个，3天內可吸引3万至5万民眾赴会。
隨著美食节全国开幕式在新山举行之后，国內10余个地点也將同步举办美食节活动。闭幕礼將於12月25日在诗巫举办。
“2010年街头美食节全国开幕式”由旅游部、马来西亚贩商同业总会主办，新山小商公会承办。
新山小商公会会长陈育荣今日召开新闻发佈会说，旅游部长拿督里黄燕燕將为美食节主持开幕礼。
出席发佈会者，包括该会总务许炳正、顾问张介川、执行秘书吴菊珍、財政王珍国、查账郑世昌、美食节筹委会主席郑天皇等。
7项旅游配套待贏取
陈育荣说，12月3日至5日在新山举行的美食节活动，每天下午5时30分进行至晚上11时。民眾可边吃美食，边观赏特备节目，並有机会贏取由海天旅游有限公司所赞助的7项旅游配套。
为鼓励民眾赴会，该会將在这3天免费发送总值3万令吉的美食固本予民眾。发送固本的方法，將另行公佈。
美食节摊档分成三区
郑天皇指出，美食节的摊档分成三区，即“哈拉”（回教徒可食用）食摊、“非哈拉”食摊，以及食品商展。目前，摊档尚有名额，欢迎小贩和乡团妇女组踊跃报名，以便推广本地传统美食。

表演节目丰富同欢乐

另外，大马歌手童欣、新传媒特约演员蔡清炮和邹嘉俊也將献唱歌曲。其他演出，计有：张家班变脸演唱、李劲松武术坊、舞龙，儿童拉丁舞蹈、巴基斯坦舞等。

Shopping to bring in RM16bil this year

Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen said shopping which contributed RM15.1bil in 2009, came second after accommodation.
“We hope shopping would contribute an extra RM1bil to the total tourism expenditure this year,” she said at a press conference after launching the Malaysia Year End Sale (M-YES) 2010 at Fahrenheit88 in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
Last year, shopping contributed about 28.3% of total tourist expenditure.
She said it was the ministry’s aim to increase this to 35% by 2020.
Dr Ng said Mastercard, the anchor credit card partner in M-YES 2010, reported an increase of 27% in sales in July and the total amount that shoppers spent using the card was RM4bil in just 30 days of shopping.
She said the ministry spent about RM20mil every year to develop and promote Malaysia as a top world destination.
“This covers Tourism Malaysia’s Mega Familiarisation Programme, initiatives to promote Malaysia abroad, advertisements and launches,” she said.
Dr Ng said under the Tourism Malaysia’s Mega Familiarisation Programme, 156 journalists, tour operators and key tourism industry players from 20 countries were invited to cover M-YES 2010.
“They are from Italy, Australia, South Korea, Switzerland, Thailand, Russia, the Philippines and the United States,” said Dr Ng.
Dr Ng added that the ministry hoped to develop Bukit Bintang as a world famous shopping destination like Milan and New York City.
She also said that on Jan 1, Malaysia would be a “duty-free” country and that import duties for 300 tourism-related goods would be abolished.
“All goods except cigars and cigarettes, liquor and imported cars would be duty free,’’ she said.
M-YES is in its tenth year and will end on Jan 2.

Visa-free travel for Taiwanese under study

Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen said her ministry had submitted a proposal to the Immigration Department and Home Ministry over the matter.
Dr Ng said some 200,000 people from Taiwan visited the country last year and Malaysia valued the Taiwanese tourism market.
She said this in response to a call by the head of the Taipei Economic Cultural Office in Malaysia Luo You-chung urging the Malaysian Government to grant Taiwanese visa-free travel.
Luo said Taiwan did not require Malaysians to apply for a visa to visit the country but Malaysia had not granted the same privilege to its citizens.
Taiwan might introduce a visa requirement for visitors from Malaysia in the future, Luo added.
Dr Ng said Taiwanese visitors were offered visa-on-arrival (VOA) in 2009, but the facility was later scrapped.
Deputy Foreign Minister A. Kohilan Pillay said Taiwan was not the only country which had the VOA facility scrapped.

Beliau berkata penghapusan duti import bagi busana anggun, aksesori fesyen, barang-barang kemas, dan produk kosmetik akan dapat menarik pembeli tempatan dan asing ke karnival itu.
Pemansuhan duti import itu diumumkan oleh Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak ketika membentangkan Bajet 2011 di Parlimen pada September.
Ng berkata, negara mahu menggalakkan pelabur melabur dalam sektor beli belah dan menjadikan Malaysia sebuah destinasi beli belah utama di dunia.
“Dengan berbuat demikian kita dapat menarik pelancongan itu berbelanja lebih besar dan tinggal lebih lama di Malaysia,” katanya pada pelancaran rasmi pusat beli belah Fahrenheit 88, di sini pada Selasa.
Beliau berkata kementeriannya memperuntukkan RM20 juta setiap tahun bagi mempromosi aktiviti beli belah.
“Ini termasuk pengiklanan, promosi, dan pelancaran produk pelancongan Malaysia di seluruh dunia,” kata beliau.
“Beli belah meraih bahagian kedua terbesar dari perbelanjaan pelancong selepas akomodasi dengan sumbangannya sebanyak RM15.1 bilion pada 2009 berbanding RM13.3 bilion pada 2008, peningkatan 13.7 peratus.
“Ia mewakili kira-kira 28.3 peratus dari jumlah perbelanjaan pelancong pada 2009 berbanding 26.8 peratus pada 2008,” katanya, dan menambah kementeriannya mensasarkan angka itu meningkat ke 35 peratus menjelang 2020.

November 24, 2010 on 8:10 pm | In News Section | No CommentsKUALA LUMPUR, Nov 23 (Bernama) — The Malaysian Year-End Sales 2010 (M-YES) hopes to raise sales of RM16 billion following the abolition of import duties on 300 tourism-related products, said Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen.
She said the abolition of the import duties for haute couture, fashion accessories, jewellery, and cosmetic products would help to attract both local and foreign shoppers to the sales carnival.
When tabling Budget 2011 in Parliament in September, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak had announced the abolition of import duties for 300 tourism-related goods such as cosmetics, handbags, gadgets and jewellery.
“We also want to encourage investors to invest in the shopping sector and make Malaysia a major shopping destination in the world.
“By doing so we are making it attractive for tourists to spend more and stay longer in Malaysia,” she said during the official opening of Fahrenheit 88, here Tuesday.
She also said that the ministry allocated RM 20 million every year to promote shopping.
“It includes advertisements, promotions, and launching Malaysian tourism products all over the world,” she added.
Hence the shopping industry as a sub-sector of the tourism industry has a significant role to play in the economy.
“Shopping holds the second biggest share of tourist expenditure after accommodation with its contribution at RM15.1 billion in 2009 compared with RM13.3 billion in 2008, signifying an increase of 13.7 per cent.
“It constitutes about 28.3 per cent of total tourist expenditures in 2009 compared to 26.8 per cent in 2008,” she said, adding that the ministry targeted the figure to reach 35 per cent by 2020.

黄燕燕：强化竞爭优势‧5千万提昇商务旅游领域

（吉隆坡22日讯）旅游部长拿督斯里黄燕燕表示，政府將拨款5千万令吉作为2011年度商务旅游领域的发展经费，提昇马来西亚在会议、奖励、大会及会展领域（MICE）旅游市场的竞爭优势。
她在出席马来西亚会展局举办会展办公室开幕典礼时表示，其中拨款2千500万將协助政府或非政府投標国际会议，以期举办各种国际会议，其余的將为他们提供咨询服务等等。
商务旅游高回报率
她说，2009年来马参加会议旅游的游客占访马游客总数的5%，以商务旅游为目的来马的游客平均消费大约7千418令吉，是休闲游客消费率的三倍。休闲游客大约消费2千300令吉。
“虽然他们只有5%，但却占大马旅游总消费的19%，为大马经济领域贡献了大约100亿令吉。因此我们可以把大马扩展成为商务旅游的国家。”
她表示，商务旅游的潜能是能吸引高回报率的的旅客，对马来西亚来说是一个新的里程碑。同时，也吸引了大约60%的游客回来休闲旅游。在亚洲，马来西亚商务旅游领域是排名第五，其他的则是新加坡、香港、北京。出席记者会者包括旅游部秘书长拿督黄宏炳、马来西亚会展局首席执行长朱基菲、市场与销售总经理何玉萍及大马旅游局总监阿兹占。
